Hungary striker Barnabas Varga is in stable condition in hospital after a serious-looking injury during his team's final group match at the European Under-21 Championship. The 21-year-old went down in the second half after an apparent clash with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn following a corner. He was taken off the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital, where scans revealed a fractured cheekbone.

Varga's Hungary teammates have rallied around him, sending messages of support and wishing him a speedy recovery. Captain Daniel Gazdag said: "We are all thinking of Barnabas and hoping he is okay. He is a key player for us, and we will miss him on the pitch. But more importantly, we want him to make a full recovery and get back to full health as soon as possible."

Hungary finished top of their group despite the setback, and will now face Germany in the semi-finals. Coach Zoltan Gera said: "It was a difficult moment for us, but we showed great character to come back and get the win. We are all proud of Barnabas and we hope to see him back on the pitch soon."
